Why can one wool sweater cost $12 while another costs $25 or more at the factory? The answer is rarely just labour. Fibre composition, garment weight, knitting gauge, colour quantity, washing, trims and quality requirements all affect the final quotation. To show how these variables work together, we reviewed a defined production case: a 350g, 100% wool sweater with a factory price of USD 19. The estimated production cost is USD 16.41 per garment, leaving approximately USD 2.59 in gross factory margin. This case gives fashion brands a practical way to understand wool sweater manufacturing cost without relying on vague industry averages.
